Janet LaRue is right. Stop taking terrorist prisoners. While we're at it, let's stop crying for the terrorist prisoners we already have. One of our field commanders publicly pointed out that before we captured them we were trying to kill them. The rights of captured combatants come from the Geneva Convention. Because the terrorists fight as guerillas, out of uniform, they are not entitled to the rights of the Geneva Convention. Therefore, they are only entitled to the rights we grant them. And we've granted them too many rights when we give them the same rights as American citizens.
Some complain that our administration can't tell terrorists from civilians. Yes, you can tell the difference. The terrorist is armed and tries to kill you. The terrorist has a bomb strapped to his body and is willing to blow himself up in the process of killing you. Identify the terrorist too late and you're dead. Other than that, he looks just like everyone else. That's guerilla warfare as practiced by the terrorists.
Terrorists don't have a big red "T" on their shirts.
It is tragic that civilians incur casualties, but this is not the fault of our troops. It is because the terrorists hide among civilians and use them for shields while they fire on our troops. Terrorists use school children as shields. Fortunately our Army and Marine snipers are adept at separating terrorists from school children, thus saving the lives of the children.
Terrorists shoot from within their places of worship and then scream "desecration" when fire is returned.
Terrorists surrender to get close enough to our troops to explode their hidden body bombs. They run inside houses containing civilians and then when one of our planes destroys the house and its inhabitants, including the terrorists and civilians we didn't know were there , the terrorist-loving bleeding heart types blame our troops for killing the civilians. Blame the terrorists! They are the people who put the civilians in danger. And I thank God when our troops can reduce the risk they incur.
If you are one of those who has pity for the terrorist prisoners, I say try to get a handle on American patriotism and support our troops and the people who are working in uniform and out to keep your sorry self safe. And stop complaining that rights of terrorists are being violated. Our Constitution gives us the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. On 9/11/2001 3,000 of our citizens had their rights terminated by terrorists. Are some of us starting to forget?
And don't even start with the "we had it coming drivel." You're seeing my friendly side about the terrorist topic right now.
The Supreme Court is absolutely wrong to grant the rights of American citizens to those who have taken up arms against us and will kill Americans and destroy our way of life if they get the chance.
You make good sense, Janet.
